A free run and survive collect-a-thon

Blue Monster Survivors is a third-person game in which you are tasked with collecting between five and ten boxes before the time limit expires. This children’s action game has a big blue monster that chases you. Stay away from the monster as you quickly find all the boxes.

You are perpetually chased by a big monster in this game, which is a little like how you are chased throughout most of Resident Evil 2. This game is closer to a classic collect-a-thon in graphics and gameplay. It is similar to older games like Spyro the dragon and some more recent games, such as Spongebob Square Pants (Bikini Bottom).

Touch controlled running

The game plays like a 3D platformer, except that you cannot jump. You can only run to find boxes. It is similar to a hide-and-seek game, except that you are the one seeking the boxes. You control your character with a single-stick controller or by indicating the direction with a touchscreen controller.

Collect against the clock

The big blue monster chases you as you collect the boxes. In truth, there is a timer for each level. It is possible to get caught before the timer expires, but it is difficult. The monster only gets close as you reach the time limit.

Has copyright issues

The Blue Monsters game has copyright issues regarding its name. The character isn't that much like the Blue Rainbow monster, but this game has been de-platformed in several places. There are several clones with the Blue Monster title, including coloring book games, which have also been copyright struck.

A short-lived treat

Though it looks like your average piece of shovelware born from a harvested Roblox library, the game’s premise offers a few cheeky thrills. It is only a shame the game is so short and that the levels are so unpopulated. The idea behind this game is not a bad one.

PROS

  • Find and seek parcels before the time limit runs out
  • Rewards methodical searchers

CONS

  • Levels are pretty sparse and uninteresting
  • Needs further levels and more content
